Moon Lake House Inn is situated at an altitude of approximately 400 meters, adjacent to the Dajia River, and surrounded by the Xueshan Mountain Range to the east and shrouded in the mist of the Yuanzui Peak. The area is rich in biodiversity, featuring fireflies, Purple Emperor and Common Mormon butterflies, colorful birds, white fish from the Shihsuei River, and ancient glacial relicts like the Euphorbia gerardiana. The vicinity also boasts century-old sacred trees, fruit, and mushroom production areas, along with a local seed nursery that enhances Xinshe Sea of Flowers and Cherry Blossom Festival.
Introduction
The inn's owner, a retired public servant with a degree in horticulture from National Taiwan University, pursued the dream of running a guesthouse to share the beauty of nature. He transformed a traditional Japanese-style building to revitalize the unused space. One room retains a tatami mat and wooden flooring, preserving family heirlooms such as the grandfather's wind drum, the grandmother's carrying pole, and the dining table with round stools, which were part of her dowry.
Incorporating Taiwanese elements, the rooms and living areas are themed around Taiwan's coniferous trees. The initial intention was to create a warm atmosphere reminiscent of childhood visits to grandparents' homes, where families or small groups of friends can relax. Guests can sit in the Moon Viewing Pavilion, gazing at the Xueshan Mountain Range, admiring the unique plants in the garden, listening to the sounds of insects and birds, and enjoying the tranquility of the natural environment.
